The county happenings can be
found on the pages of the Carteret County News-Times,
published Wednesday and Friday afternoons and Sunday morning.
Produced by a staff of local writers, this newspaper is a good
source of information for vacationers who want to know the schedules
of tours, festivals, kids' programs, seminars, exhibits and events
of all types within the county and the surrounding area. The paper
has an expanded area sports section and entertainment section, and a
business portion is included each Wednesday. The News-Times,
which has been in business for more than 95 years, is available by
subscription and in vending machines throughout the county. The
News-Times also publishes the Tideland News based in
Swansboro and the Topsail Voice in Hampstead. The Beaufort Gam The Beaufort Gam is a
free weekly newspaper focusing on local news, including municipal
and county governments, information on school and community events,
and informative columns. The Gam distributes more
than 12,000 copies every Thursday to more than 300 distribution
outlets throughout Carteret County and extending into Swansboro.
Out-of-the-area mail delivery is also available.

Crystal Coast Parent
strives to bring information about family events and news to one
publication. This free bi-monthly magazine is made available to
families who live in and visit Carteret, Craven and Onslow counties.
Its goal is to be a one-stop parenting resource for information
about family-oriented local events, opportunities, products and
services with a focus on raising balanced, healthy and happy
children.

HOMES real estate
magazines are a must-have to locals who are looking to buy real
estate or search rental listings in the area. Additionally,
HOMES are a helpful resource for those living out of the

This Week Magazine (TWM) is considered the
ultimate authority on entertainment for the Crystal Coast and has been for
28 years. Locals and visitors alike turn to TWM to find out what is
happening in the area and region. Each Thursday, 20,000 free copies are
distributed to racks and stands throughout eastern North Carolina. TWM
offers a comprehensive calendar of events, spotlighting festivals, concerts,
theater, fishing, NASCAR news, book reviews, the arts and the newest
dining-out feature — "A La Carteret". TWM is the entertainment section of
the Friday edition of the Carteret County News-Times. Tideland News Tideland News is published
each Wednesday from its office in Swansboro. Owned by Carteret
Publishing Company of Morehead City, which also publishes the
Carteret County News-Times, the paper covers news and
activities in Swansboro, the eastern portion of Onslow County and
western Carteret County. The communities covered by this weekly
include Hubert, Bear Creek, Stella, Peletier, Cedar Point, Cape
Carteret, Emerald Isle, Bogue and Ocean. Coaster Now in its 25th year, Coaster
is called the Guide to the Crystal Coast for a reason — because it
provides such a great overview of area happenings and attractions.
This seven-issue magazine is a comprehensive, full-color guide and
offers needed information to residents, visitors, retirees and
second homeowners. You'll enjoy the features, the area attraction
information and guides of all types. Maps, ferry schedules and tide
tables are offered, and the calendar of events offers the latest
Crystal Coast happenings. Arts Alive Arts Alive is a regional
magazine designed to showcase the arts of Carteret, Onslow, Craven,
Pitt, Beaufort and Pamlico counties. Arts Alive is a key
resource for everyone interested in enjoying, participating in and
preserving the arts. Local arts councils use Arts Alive as
a forum to promote coming exhibits, concerts, classes, contests and
plays. Arts Alive is published monthly, though the January
and February issues are combined. Arts Alive is distributed
free through racks and stands in the six counties. The Jacksonville Daily
News The Daily News is a daily
morning paper that covers state and national events, Jacksonville,
Onslow County and Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. The paper also has
a Carteret County bureau with writers and a photographer who provide
coverage of Carteret County activities and county-wide issues. One
reporter also focuses on fisheries and environmental issues in
eastern North Carolina. Home delivery is available to Carteret
County subscribers.

Television Stations Time Warner Cable Channel 10 With an office and studio in Newport,
Time Warner Cable Channel 10 is the area's community channel. Its
programming includes a variety of topics, from schools and health
issues to sports and talk shows. The station also broadcasts tapes
of the meetings of county commissioners and boards of education from
Carteret County and neighboring Craven County. Locally produced
programs focus on community events and disseminate information about
community projects and community-service activities. Headline News Local Edition Operated by Doug Raymond Productions,
Headline News Local Edition is featured at 24 minutes after each
hour and six minutes before each hour on Channel 49. Headline News
offers coverage of local events and the meetings of the county
commissioners, town boards, the board of education and more. This
newscast provides viewers a chance to see what is really happening
in their community. UNC Center for Public Television North Carolina public television is broadcast
locally on Channel 13. Viewers may choose from the public television
programs to which they are accustomed along with regional features tailored
to the interests of North Carolina residents.
WFXI - TV 8 FOX Television Channel 8 and Channel 14
show the regular Fox programming and offer a local news show each
night at 10 PM. With an office in Morehead City, the channel offers
some local television coverage. WCTI - TV 12 ABC Television Channel 12, the local ABC
affiliate, provides comprehensive local coverage as well as ABC
programming. Channel 12 produces local programs, including "Good
Morning Eastern Carolina" and "Community Spotlight." The station
offers local news, sports and weather each weekday at noon, 5, 6 and
11 PM. This station has a reporter and photographer dedicated to
covering events in Carteret County. WITN - TV 7 NBC Television Channel 7 is the local NBC
affiliate. Along with NBC programming, the station has area news
coverage, including high school and college sports. News is
broadcast at 5:30 AM, noon, and at 5, 6 and 11 PM. WNCT - TV 9 CBS Television Channel 9 is the regional
CBS affiliate and carries all of the network's programming. Local
news, sports and national news are shown at 5 and 6 AM, noon, and 6
and 11 PM. A WNCT reporter is assigned to covering the Crystal

North Carolina's first FM talk
station, WTKF 107.1 exclusively offers "Coastal Daybreak" with Ben Ball,
the area's only morning show that's all talk. Ball taps into all the area
happenings, history, book reviews, hot health issues and more, keeping
eastern North Carolina citizens up to date. On The Talk Station you'll
also find Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham, Michael Reagan and other
talk-radio favorites. These include many locally produced programs like
"Viewpoints," "Youthpoints," "Positive Living" and "The Wine and Dine
Radio Show." Sports coverage includes the Tar Heels of North Carolina, the
Carolina Panthers, local high school games and Sporting News Radio. News
and weather are broadcast every 30 minutes. The station is also heard in
Jacksonville on WJNC 1240 AM. Public Radio East
88.1/88.5/89.3/90.3 & 91.5 FM With studios on the Craven
Community College campus, Public Radio East offers listeners two
distinct formats. The news and classical music format is heard on 89.3
FM and presents nearly 120 hours of classical music each week plus
in-depth news weekday mornings and afternoons during NPR's "Morning
Edition" and "All Things Considered." "The News & Ideas Network" — heard
on 88.5 FM in New Bern, 90.3 FM in Goldsboro-Kinston, 91.5 FM Atlantic
Beach and 88.1 FM in Greenville — offers those NPR signature programs
and more, including news from the BBC, live national call-in programs
"The Diane Rehm Show" and "Talk of the Nation" as well as "The Sound," a
weekday evening program of roots rock, Americana and contemporary folk.
During weekends on all the Public Radio East frequencies, it's America's
favorite mechanics Tom and Ray Magliozzi during "Car Talk" Saturday at
10 AM, music and storytelling Saturday evening at 6 PM during "A Prairie
Home Companion" and five hours of jazz Sunday at 6 PM during "An Evening
with the Jazzman." WSFL 106.5 WSFL plays classic rock all
day and features the "John Boy and Billy Show" from 6 to 10 AM each
weekday. This station offers local, national and financial news, as well
as sports, rock and NASCAR coverage. Lite 98.7 FM This is the station locals prefer for on-the-job
easy listening. You can enjoy this type music all through the day.
Weekday evenings from 7 PM to midnight, on-air radio personality Delilah
offers advice along with caller dedications and requests. Thunder Country 96.3 and 103.7 Thunder Country plays continuous new country music
for its country music fans. The station also brings everything NASCAR to
