The Raleigh-based News & Observer, which covers issues of statewide importance, also offers home delivery in this area. The New Bern Sun Journal is the local, seven-day-a-week newspaper. New Bern Magazine is published monthly and features information on events and attractions in Craven and Pamlico counties. It's distributed free at various locations, including the Craven County Convention and Visitors Bureau in the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center at the corner of East and South Front streets and at the New Bern Area Chamber of Commerce at 316 S. Front Street. New Bern Magazine also is available by mail subscription, 12 issues for $15 per year.MH 11-04-08

The Shopper/Community Newspapers

The Shopper, published weekly, features advertisements, specials and coupons offered by local businesses in New Bern and Havelock. The Shopper also prints special sections dedicated to home improvement, back-to-school, holiday gift giving and other topics, as well as annual medical and hospitality guides. This 36-year-plus publication is delivered free of charge on Wednesdays to more than 31,000 households in Craven County. Classified ads may be placed by calling (888) 328-4802. The Shopper also publishes several monthly community newspapers, which are delivered free of charge to the residents they serve.
